Gait Analysis
This is the portion of a Pedorthic Assessment where we watch you walk and/or run to analyze how your foot, ankle, knee and hip change with movement.
Your feet are unique, as is your treatment plan.
We often will watch and/or take a video of you walking/running from multiple angles to assess how each joint changes during the different stages of gait. When we review your gait pattern we can often detect underlying mechanical issues that could be contributing to your pain/discomfort.
Common gait abnormalities we could detect are:
- Overpronation (collapse) of the arch
- Underpronation (lack of movement) of the arch
- In-toe or externally rotated gait pattern
- Increased internal knee rotation
- Unbalanced pelvic movements
- Collapse of the ankles
